Quite simply, I learned how to run and direct a big band from Nick, mostly by watching him on stage. He has always been my inspiration, and I spent 15 years at High Wycombe Music Centre following in his footsteps and aiming to attain the heights of his band. I never quite got there before I stepped down in 2019, but I had a lot of fun trying! R.I.P? I very much doubt it! There are just too many potential jazz musicians (even if they don't know it yet) up there, and he will already be starting to work on them I suspect. Thanks Nick.
